The meeting, which is happening at Po, Bukina Faso was facilitated by the Ghana Boundary Commission and the National Boundary Secretariat of Burkina Faso as part of the implementation of the Framework Agreement on Cross-Border and the Memorandum of Understandibg on the Establishment of Periodic Consultation between the Border Administrative Authorities signed by the Foreign Ministers of the two states in February this year. The meeting aims to review and validate a Convention for the establishment of a framework for consultation between the cross-border regions as part of promoting the integrated and coordinated management of the common land boundary.<br \/>Opening the meeting, the Governor of the region of Nazinon in Burkina Faso, Madam Yvette Massadalou SANO, stressed the need for both countries to strengthen the management of their common boundary as a shared responsibility.<br \/>She called on the regional administrative and traditional authorities present at the meeting to consider the borders as bridges of collaboration and cultural development and not as those of administrative ties, adding that the proposals from the meeting will bring change to the lives of residents along the boundaries.<br \/>Madam Massadalou SANOU further encouraged participants of the meeting to preserve \u201cthe cordial ties of fraternity and authority that exist between the two countries.\u201d<br \/>In hos submission as the leader of the Ghanaian delegation, the Commissioner General of the Ghana Boundary Commission, Major General Anthony Ntem indicated that the boundary between Ghana and Burkina Faso is a space of coexistence and peaceful cooperation.
