The Ghana Boundary Commission (GhBC), led by its Commissioner General, Major General Anthony Ntem, on Friday, 10 July 2026, joined the nationwide National General Cleaning Exercise declared by the President of the Republic of Ghana to help restore a clean, healthy and safe environment following the recent floods that affected parts of the country.
As part of the exercise, management and staff of the Commission undertook a clean-up operation in the Kanda Post Office general area in Accra, where they desilted choked gutters, cleared overgrown weeds, swept streets and removed refuse to improve sanitation and facilitate the free flow of drainage water.
Addressing staff during the exercise, Major General Anthony Ntem underscored the importance of the national initiative and called on all citizens to actively participate in maintaining clean surroundings.
He explained that the first day of the exercise was dedicated to corporate institutions and other workplaces, while the second day would focus on community-based clean-up activities involving residents across the country.
The Commissioner General therefore encouraged all staff of the Ghana Boundary Commission to continue supporting the national effort by joining clean-up activities within their respective communities on Saturday, 11 July 2026 and beyond.
“This is a national responsibility that requires the collective efforts of all citizens. Today’s exercise is for institutions and workplaces, while tomorrow’s exercise is community-based. I encourage every member of staff to join residents in their communities to help keep our environment clean,” he stated.
He noted that environmental cleanliness is essential to public health, safety and national development, particularly in the wake of the recent floods that displaced many people and highlighted the need for improved sanitation and effective drainage systems.
The Ghana Boundary Commission’s participation forms part of its commitment to supporting national development initiatives and promoting responsible citizenship through collective action.<\/p>
