Ghana Boundary Commission Organizes sensitisation along Western Frontiers
The Ghana Boundary Commission organised a sensitisation programme on 30 March 2023, for residents in the New Town Border Community of the Jomoro Municipal Assembly of the Western Region of Ghana.
The end result of the effective sensitisation program led by the Commission and in partnership with the Jomoro Municipal Assembly, resulted in increased awareness about Ghana’s shared boundaries with the La Cote d’Ivoire. The program also significantly influenced the deconstruction of negative social norms and responses by both actors and residents of border communities along the Western Frontiers.
The sensitization exercise program is part of activities lined up by the Ghana Boundary Commission to educate Border Communities across the country. The National Coordinator of the Commission who led the sensitisation emphasized on the need for the border communities to enhance cross border security and community cooperation.
He encouraged the border communities to be vigilant and proactive at all times and urged the residents to report any tempering or removal of Boundary Pillars along the Western Frontiers. The sensitization was attended by the Municipal Chief Executive and Officials of the Jomoro Municipal Assembly, the Traditional Council and Community Leaders of the New Town.
