The Joint third Ghana/Burkina Faso Boundary Commission 5-day meeting opened in Bolgatanga (Upper East Region). The meeting will be held from 13th to 17th May 2024. The Commissioner General of the Ghana Boundary Commission, Major General Emmanuel Kotia, in his welcome remarks, emphasised the importance of collaboration with neighbouring countries to resolve boundary disputes in Africa. He stated that the example of Ghana and Burkina Faso in this regard should be applauded.
The objectives of the meeting are to examine and validate the Cross Border Framework and also to examine and validate a draft Memorandum of Understanding on Boundary Reaffirmation amongst others.
Special Guests at the Opening Ceremony were the Upper East Regional Minister – Hon Dr Hafiz Bin Salih, HE Boniface Gambila – Ambassador of Ghana to Burkina Faso, HE David Kabre- Ambassador of Burkina Faso to Ghana, Madam Salimata Dabal – Permanent Secretary of the Boundary Commission of Burkina Faso, and Mr Mamoud Tapily – Representative of GIZ/AUBP and Mr Josef Reichel – Representative of the German Ambassador to Ghana.
