Honourable Samuel Abu Jinapor, the Minister for Lands and Natural Resources on 12 June, 2024, read a statement on the floor of Parliament to commemorate African Border Day which was celebrated on 7 June, 2024.
He emphasized the importance of raising awareness and involving residents of border communities to maintain peaceful and progressive relations between Ghana and its neighbours.
Inferring from the theme of the African Border Day, “Educate an African Fit for the Twenty-First (21st) Century: Building Resilient Education Systems for Increased Access to Inclusive, Lifelong, Quality, and Relevant Learning in Africa,” the Minister stressed that education serves as a powerful tool in promoting inter-cultural dialogue, tolerance, and mutual understanding, and urged for cross-border exchanges, economic cooperation, and joint development projects to overcome barriers and create stronger border communities.
Mr. Jinapor commended the Ghana Boundary Commission for promoting and ensuring Ghana’s territorial integrity and sovereignty.
