Leadership Transition at the Ghana Boundary Commission

The Ghana Boundary Commission has officially marked a change in leadership as Major General Emmanuel W. Kotia (PhD) handed over the Flag of Authority to Brigadier General Anthony Ntem, the newly appointed Commissioner General.

The symbolic handing/taking over ceremony took place today at the Commission’s premises, attended by staff and representatives from key partner institutions.

In his farewell remarks, Major General Kotia reflected on the Commission’s humble beginnings in 2020, when operations commenced from his verandah with just three staff members. He acknowledged the unwavering support of stakeholders and partners in transforming the Commission into a leading model for boundary management across Africa.

Brigadier General Ntem, a seasoned Telecommunications Engineering expert and senior officer of the Ghana Armed Forces, expressed deep appreciation for the foundation laid by his predecessor. He pledged to build upon the solid legacy and called for the continued support and collaboration of staff and stakeholders in advancing the Commission’s mandate.

Major General Emmanuel Kotia, the founding Commissioner General, served with distinction from July 2020 to May 2025. As he begins his well-deserved retirement, the Ghana Boundary Commission extends its heartfelt gratitude for his service and warmly welcomes Brigadier General Anthony Ntem to lead the next chapter of growth and excellence.
