1. Ghana’s total land boundary distance is approximately 2209 kilometres; with a breakdown as follows: Ghana-Togo boundary – 789km; Ghana-Burkina Faso boundary – 556km; and Ghana-Cote d’Ivoire boundary – 661 km.
2. The Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ) of every coastal country is 200 Nautical Miles.
3. Ghana’s first maritime boundary dispute was with Cote d’Ivoire in 2007. This was successfully resolved at the International Tribunal of the Law of the Sea (ITLOS) in 2017.
4. Ghana shares land boundaries with Togo (on the East); Cote d’Ivoire (on the West); and Burkina Faso (on the North).
5. Ghana shares maritime boundaries with Côte d’Ivoire to the West and Togo, Benin, and Nigeria to the East.
6. Ghana is currently in peaceful boundary negotiations with Togo regarding a maritime dispute between the two countries.
