On 19 October 2023 , GhBC, in collaboration with the Land Boundary Commission of Togo, held a joint community sensitisation at the Honuta. The sensitisation exercise is part of Phase 3 of the Joint Land Boundary Reaffirmation exercise to be undertaken by the two countries from 21 October to 10 November 2023. The aim of the sensitisation programme is to educate communities along the International Boundary Line to understand the mechanics and activities of the impending reaffirmation exercise. Present were the Deputy Minister for Lands and Natural Resources-Ghana; the Chief Director of the Ministry of Territorial Affairs and Administration-Togo; the DCE for Afadjato South and the Ho West DCE.
On 20 October 2023, Kame Tonu, Togo, and in line with objectives of the African Union Border Programme, the Ghana Boundary Commission and the Land Boundary Commission of Togo organised a joint sensitisation programme for selected border communities along the Ghana/Togo International Boundary Line including Leklebi-Kame (Ghana) and Kame Tonu (Togo). This forms part of a 2-day joint sensitisation to educate residents on the impending joint land boundary reaffirmation exercise to be undertaken by the two countries.
Dignitaries at the programme included: Mr Pouyo Samah, Deputy Minister for Local and Territorial Administration of Togo; Mr Atsoutsé Dotsevie of the National Land Boundary Commission of Togo; Col Henry Badasu, Director for Boundary Operations, representing the National Coordinator of the Ghana Boundary Commission; Togbe Atatsi V, Paramount Chief of Leklebi Kame; and Togbe Akotia, Paramount Chief of Kame Tonu.
Speakers at the programme reiterated the message that the land boundary reaffirmation exercise between the two countries was not aimed at drawing new boundaries but jointly reaffirming the existing ones.
