The Ghana Boundary Commission held a workshop to review its Priorities on Wednesday 13 May 2026 at the Lancaster Hotel in Accra. The workshop brought together Senior Officials from state Security Agencies, partner Ministries, Departments and Agencies, and Development Partners. The workshop provided a platform for participating stakeholders to review the Commission’s Priorities, developed from its 10-Year Strategic Plan.
In his opening remarks, the Commissioner General of the Ghana Boundary Commission, Major General Anthony Ntem, noted that Ghana’s International Boundaries are critical interfaces for the nation’s sovereignty, security, development, and regional cooperation. He stressed the need for more coordinated, proactive, and sustainable approaches to Ghana’s International Boundary governance and admonished participants to engage constructively in the deliberations.
Representing the Chief of Mission, the Head of Resource Management at IOM Ghana Mr David Mavengere emphasised the dynamic nature of Ghana’s International Boundaries and their implications for security and development. He commended the Commission’s leadership and reaffirmed IOM’s commitment to supporting Ghana in ensuring peaceful boundaries, cross-border cooperation, and community-focused initiatives.
Participating stakeholders actively engaged in working group discussions and provided strategic inputs into the Commission’s priorities ahead of an upcoming sub-regional validation exercise, where the Priorities of the Boundary Commissions of Ghana, Côte d’Ivoire, Burkina Faso, and Mali will be harmonised.
