The 13th Session of the Permanent Joint Commission between Ghana and Burkina Faso has successfully concluded today in Ouagadougou. The meeting concluded with the signing of seven (7) bilateral agreements, three (3) of which focus on the reaffirmation and joint management of the International Land Boundary between the two countries.
The signing of the three agreements formalises the necessary processes for the commencement of boundary reaffirmation works by the Boundary Commissions of Ghana and Burkina Faso. It also establishes a Joint Commission responsible for undertaking the reaffirmation exercise and formalises processes for advancing structured cross-border cooperation between the two states.
Speaking after the signing ceremony, Ghana’s Minister for Foreign Affairs and Head of Delegation, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, underscored that the agreements represent a renewed commitment to intensifying bilateral cooperation. He assured all present of both countries’ determination to ensure the immediate and successful implementation of the signed agreements.
This milestone reflects the enduring friendship between Ghana and Burkina Faso and the shared vision for peaceful boundary management, strengthened diplomacy, and sustainable development.
